Welcome to the Siskiyou Artists Association (SAA) web site. We are a congenial group of artists who meet regularly to exchange ideas and learn more about visual arts.
SAA supports local artists by providing critiques and demonstrations at monthly meetings, workshops, and an annual show in late summer at the Mount Shasta Sisson Museum. Each year the association also awards scholarships to local high school and college art students.
Artist of the Year
At the October 19, 2008 SAA meeting, Jeanie Dickinson's pastel painting entitled "Surprise Barn in McKinley Valley" was selected as Painting of the Year. In the photo below, Marilyn Ellis, 2007 Artist of the Year, presents Jeanie with the Silver Cup.
Next Meeting
The next SAA meeting will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2009, at the Lake Shastina Community Center. This will be the first SAA meeting in 2009, and will feature a critique by Ron Richards. All local artists are encouraged to attend and bring a painting, drawing, carving, or sculpture to the meeting for Ron’s assessment. Participating artists should bring their work to the Lake Shastina Community Center by 1:30 p.m. The meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m.
